I am tired

The baby is cutting his first tooth and fighting his first ear infection. I am getting no sleep!

I did manage over the weekend to snap some pics. Today, I was able to find time to edit them while holding a fussy baby.

I am resolute!

So another year has passed and a new one is blooming.

Boy, it’s been a bit since I have posted. What have I been up to? Well, we own our own business and between October thru December, life is chaos. Trying to juggle raising our crew, school scedules, therapies, appointments, then adding long lines of people waiting to ship their items to loved onces across the country adds a whole new aspect to life. I don’t think I have ever been so exhausted in my life. I went from working part time (2 days a week) to more than full time, then coming home making supper and checking homework and running baths and…and…and…the kids were off for 2 weeks for winter break.

During this time, my family lost a loved one. It was shocking and tragic. It has been very hard to overcome. It is hard to have closure but I do feel at peace knowing my dear uncle has no more pain. My sister and I did fly up to be with our family during that time. While the weather was absolutely FREEZING the warmth from family was a great comfort. I do miss them all dearly, especially my uncle who passed away, I miss him soooo terribly!

Yeah, uh, that is where I have been!

Amid the chaos, I have managed to get a bit of torching in! Managed to get a few sales from the co-op! Somehow managed to read a book or two. but never did get those Christmas cards out! Shhhhh….they still may come…ok, maybe I’ll just pack them away for next year! They were really great cards too! We had a nice mellow Christmas with wonderful food and pleasant company. 🙂 Life felt all warm and cozy!

In our crazy, adventerous days, hubby and I managed to get ourselves on track with healthy eating. And yes we made in through the holidays fairly unscathed! And with the new year starting we are kicking it up a notch and digging our heels in. Since we didn’t get much time to workout in December, we plan to take full advantage of its use now. We set “winter hours” at work so that we can have supper earlier and get up to the gym and still have time with the munchkins before dropping into bed only to start it all over again.

I am feeling good and down over 23 pounds now! I have already had to buy some new jeans and will need to do so very soon again because I can pull these ones up and down without unbuttoning them!!! *dances* I feel so good! Did I already say that? And you know what I find the neatest thing? We are eating wonderfully yummy meals! We are pinching pennies like everyone else (moreso with our large family) but by shopping the sales and eating before we head to the store has helped immensely.

So what if we are only 5 days into 2009? We had some good “practice” leading up to it and it’s only going to get better!!

2009 is going to be a life changing year. And I looking forward to embracing every minute of it!

Ans a few photos:

and finally a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from my family to yours!

Another preview!

I haven’t even added these to Flickr yet! I had them soaking in water for 3 days and finally cleaned them up late last night and grabbed pics this morning! I am really sad that I broke my favorite leaf, but I will make more! Also, made some beads into earrings! I plan on selling those not only on etsy but also in our store and the other 2 places you can find my jewelry and beads IRL! 😉

So here they are!

And some closer pics of the leaves that are sellable:

So that is all for me today! The kids have a half day of school and I have two home sick with sinus infections and ear infections. I am clorox-ing EVERYTHING today! Gotta get the germies out of here!!!

Now to get my tush moving and get some jewelry made. I am, with other artists, going to have a space at the artisans galleria over the Holiday Season!

A sneak peek….

A quick preview of what I worked on this weekend, before the crash:

All that Glitters:

Tranquil earring pair:

The Path, set of button shaped beads:

Dirty Martini:

The bead I was working on during the crash, well it’s not even worthy of a pic. The darn thing just was not right. LOL But it was goign to be a set of buttons in my “dirty martini” style, like the last snap shot of the olive colored sleek pillow focal.

Monsoon Season

Next year when I proudly proclaim that I love monsoon season, that I can’t wait for monsoon season. Please remind me of what happened today.

I was happily torching for the second time in the same day which is practically unheard of for me. I heard a bit of thunder but figured I had time before the storm rolled down the mountain. The window in the studio was open because quite frankly it was cooler outside than it was inside the studio. I had just finished one set and started a bead for a second set when I heard a loud whoosh and then a crash. The wind came up out of now where and somehow caught the heavy particle board shelf that my Bullseye 90 coe glass was sitting on.

I somehow managed to finish my bead, close the bead door on the kiln and shut everything down. By this point all the kids had run to see what the loud noise was. Katie immediately came in and helped pick up the mess. Believe it or not, I didn’t cry. At least not yet. But poor Katie was crying as she helped me pick in the little nubs of the pretty pink, purple and cream colored glass. My newest order hadn’t been put away yet and that got shattered too.

So right now, it’s all sitting in a box. I’ll check out the damage tomorrow. Devastating…just devastating….but then again, it’s just glass right?
